Impressions of International Week: "To meet and create something new"

This week Vilnius College of Technologies and Design (VTDK) offered even more meaningful activities. The events of the International Week took place here, where the foreign partners not only gave lectures to the college community, but also expanded their knowledge and made contacts.

The event, which started on November 11, has been organized for the 11th time, and the representatives of the VTDK were glad that it attracts more and more foreign partners every year. Visitors from various higher education institutions from more than 10 countries particularly welcome this initiative, because, based on their words, they were able not only to share their experiences with others, but also to expand their knowledge, strengthen links with existing partners and make new contacts. The evening with the VTDK folk dance ensemble "Sietuva" also left a great impression on the majority of the people: here they could get acquainted with Lithuanian traditions and culture.

An intensive program was planned during the event. Contacts between the lecturers of the college and foreign partners were established or deepened, meetings were held in the units of the VTDK, where the reprezentatives of foreign higher education institutions got acquainted with the material base and laboratories of the college. There was also a cultural program - we introduced the guests to the treasure trove of Vilnius architecture and the intangible cultural heritage of Lithuania.

During "The International Week", college students, lecturers and other staff had the opportunity to listen to lectures led by foreign partners. In some of the lectures, quests presented good practices that are relevant to the implementation of the college’s strategy. For example, Hungarian partners shared their experience of a successful dual teaching model at their university, a Finnish lecturer spoke about interdisciplinary initiatives integrating foreign language learning into other curriculum subjects, and Czech partners shared their experiences of organizing studies for students from the United States and Canada.

The conference "Technological Innovations - 2019" and the seminar-discussion of science workshops, which discussed the topic that is currently very important in Europe - the involvement of students in the implementation of research based on the needs of society, attracted great interest of the guests. According to the head of the International Relations and Project Management department of the college Ana Aleknavičiene, VTDK, already participating in international projects "Horizon2020" and "Erasmus+" in the framework of strategic partnership programs, can already share experience in this field with foreign colleagues.
